The Nooksack Valley is comprised mostly of farmland west of Sumas Mountain
and south of the Canadian border. Homes dot the landscape of rolling
hills and fields of raspberries, corn, and hay, with the occasional
dairy farm being added for excitement. Three small towns contain
the bulk of the population outside of the larger communities in
Whatcom County: Everson, Nooksack, and Sumas.
Everson is a small town with a nice, vintage downtown area and
plenty of small, friendly homes. Located 10 minutes from Lynden
and 30 minutes from Bellingham, the pastoral setting is a pleasant
place to raise a family.
Next door to Everson is Nooksack. A slightly smaller community
than Everson, it describes itself as a "bedroom community."
Along the Canadian border is the third small town in the valley:
Sumas. Sumas is located just south of the southern-most point
of the Trans-Canada highway and the city of Abbotsford, British
Columbia. |
